Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skis work by using a combination of forward-gliding zones and a grip zone for propulsion, which is enabled by a free-heel binding. There are two main techniques: classic, which uses a "kick" motion for forward movement in tracks, and skate skiing, which mimics ice skating by pushing off the edges of the skis on a firmer surface. Poles are used to assist with balance and to add power for both techniques.
